Picture Yourself Here - modern geodesic design
The Shell House was built by architect Seymour Rutkin. For those who like to know construction and design details you can
read more about the house here. The house is a landmark to local residents. While it
sits well back from the road the valley views showcase the unique shape from a distance.
Being in a modern house is a wonderful experience. This one is rather like living in a beautiful loft apartment - just set in a former farm pasture.
With sunlight and open space a strong sense of gathering together takes place.
Close to skiing at Plattekill, a 19 mile rail trail, the hamlet of Roxbury - on the National Register
of Historic Places, the East Branch of the Delaware River headwaters, and a farmers market at the historic Round Barn in Halcottsville.
Or for activities tour local art galleries and studios, rent a kayak or canoe to paddle on Lake Wawaka, golf at the Shephard Hills Golf Course, or horseback ride at Stone Tavern.
In addition to the house, the warm months double the area of the house you use, with a large, 1800 sf terrace.
